Rebar Connecting with KODI KLIP® Rebar Fastening Tools and MAX® Wire Tying Guns
Traditionally, tie wire pliers and a tie wire wheel have been used to pull, wrap, twist, and cut rebar tie wire around two or more concrete reinforcing bars in precast concrete, tilt-up concrete, and cast-in-place concrete Rebar Connecting with KODI KLIP® Rebar Fastening Tools and MAX® Wire Tying Guns.
Rebar tying requires a rodbuster to use both hands and make rapid and repetitive hand, wrist, and forearm movements while the rodworker grips the tie wire pliers while tying rebar cages and rebar grids. Tying rebar increases the chance of a serious injury like carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as other injuries such as cuts and abrasions. Further, an unsupported, round-shouldered working position when twisting the tie wire pliers on ground level rebar mats and rebar foundations increases the risk of back pain and injury, resulting in serious wear and tear on the body – the job is literally backbreaking.

Governments Study Rebar Tying Injuries
The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) compared the hazards of tying rebar by hand and using powered tools during the construction of a freeway bridge deck.
They found that rebar connecting tools such as the KODI KLIP® Klipper Gun and MAX® Rebar Tier significantly reduced hand, wrist, and forearm injuries while allowing workers to use a free hand to support their trunk (and thereby reduce back disorders) when making mechanical rebar connections. In addition, the Construction Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO) performed a similar study to determine the potential reduction in the risk of musculoskeletal injuries to rodworkers when using a mechanical rebar connector. The study resulted in almost identical findings –manually tying rebar using pliers and wire not only involved injury causing sustained deep trunk bending and dangerous rapid and repetitive hand and wrist movements, but also slowed production.
KODI KLIP® Klipper Guns and MAX® Rebar Tying Machines have been proven to be so important in reducing injuries and improving overall productivity that rebar ironworkers increasingly support their use on every job, while both union and non-union contractors benefit from reduced Workman’s Comp modification factors. Wherever rebar is used to strengthen the structural integrity of concrete (to increase tensile strength for bending and stretching) in precast, site-pour tilt-up, cast-in-place concrete, and other concrete construction applications, the KODI KLIP® System and MAX® System are on the job.
AIRMATIC Provides the Ultimate Solution to Hand Tying Rebar Problems
AIRMATIC, with over 50-years of experience in the precast concrete industry and more than 60-years in the construction industry, immediately recognized the safety and economic value that KODI KLIP® and MAX® Tools would bring to the concrete construction industry.
In 1993, we became one of the first and now, the nation’s largest distributors of MAX® Rebar Tiers and rebar tie wire. In 2013, AIRMATIC encountered the most innovative product it had seen in decades, the KODI KLIP® Rebar Fastening System. The KODI KLIP® System connects rebar faster, safer, and stronger than any other method – and does it without tie wire. The rapid success of AIRMATIC’s
"Why Tie When You Can Klip"
campaign enabled AIRMATIC, in late 2014, to be appointed KODI’s National Master Distributor, and in 2015, KODI’s International Sales & Logistics Coordinator.
